
Celebrated Carnival and stage designer Brian Mac Farlane’s retrospective exhibit titled Brian Mac Farlane: Through the years, continues at the Art Society until February 16. Mac Farlane is one of three patrons of the Art Society, which is headquartered at Jamaica Boulevard and St Vincent Avenue, Federation Park, Port-of-Spain.
Mac Farlane entered the Carnival arena in the late 90s and is well known for his “Theatre Mas”. He won National Band of the Year title many times, including the record for doing so seven times consecutively with India—the Story of Boyee (2007), Earth—Cries of Despair, Wings of Hope (2008), Africa—Her People, Her Glory, Her Tears (2009), Resurrection—The Mas (2010), Humanity—Circle of Life (2011), Sanctification—In Search of (2012) and Joy—the Finale (2013).
He displays and shares his history as a mas maker and iconic designer in this show, and visitors will be able to purchase limited edition prints. On display will be some of his trophies, crowns, Carnival costumes, and other memorabilia from his winning presentations.
