Domestic 50 overs cricket resumes today after a break for the Carnival festivities. The top national clubs will all be gearing up for action but will be missing the Red Force players, as they are currently doing battle in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Professional Cricket League tournament.
Powerhouse Queen’s Park will be hosting Victoria and they are expected to continue their unbeaten run. The Parkites have won both their matches thus far and newcomers Victoria despite boasting the likes of William Perkins and Sherwin Ganga, will find it hard to stop them.
Another unbeaten team PowerGen will have a more difficult battle, as they host Merryboys at Syne Village in Penal. PowerGen who has been in terrific form at the start of the season with two massive wins under their belts, will be without skipper Jason Mohammed. The right hander who is currently in Guyana leading the T&T Red Force scored two hundreds in the first two games, that powered the southerners to over 300 runs batting first.
The third unbeaten team Alescon Comets will make the long journey to Tableland, South East Trinidad, where they will battle the up and coming rural team. Comets have surprisingly won both their games to date but will sorely miss wicketkeeper/batsman Steven Katwaroo who is on national duties.
In other matches, FC Clarke Road United will look to young Mark Deyal to continue his prolific form, as they bid to register their first win of the season. They will be traveling to the East looking to arrest their slide, when they meet Prisons, another new team on the block.
All matches get off at 9.30 am.
