This is an open letter to those in authority to fast track the long overdue beverage container legislation. By putting a price on plastics the landscape will become a different place overnight as well as drastically reduce the scavenging cost to the local authorities.
At the same time, follow the example set by Guyana and ban all styrofoam containers.
Surely such legislation cannot be rocket science as there must be plenty of examples world wide to follow, unless of course the aim of successive administration is to over-legislate which will make policing virtually impossible.
Look around and see for yourself the disgusting sight throughout the country caused by discarded food and beverage containers. Put a price on them and see how fast they disappear.
Spending on spraying and other preventative methods to control Zika and all such, is throwing good money after bad if these programmes are not supported by sound litter laws.
Come now, I cannot be the only person that thinks such legislation is vital to a supposedly modern society.
