At first look Ben Carson’s endorsement of Donald Trump seemed incredulous to many—a well educated, elegant, soft-spoken neurosurgeon endorsing the rightwing supremist Trump. The neurosurgeon’s cerebral meanderings need to be taken very seriously and from Carson’s own mouth we hear of the two Donalds: one that is a blustering bombastic showman and the other, a quiet reflective guy who—get this—really does think!
So goes the narrative, a litany of one-liner policy positions has Donald Trump exposed and his campaign having identified his Archilles heel, which is that for a successful businessman, at least one who has made billions, Trump is not capable of stringing together a coherent policy position which is more than a five-second sound byte. This goes for the incredulous explanation that Donald Trump has two personalities!
Let’s hope that with Dr Carson’s help, Donald Trump’s schizophrenia will eventually be cured by November or we stand the risk of electing one but getting two Trumps in the White House, both of which is a frightening proposition.
