Montrose United’s Issa Mohammed will put his title on the line when the Caroni Zone Table-Tennis Association host its seventh annual tournament sponsored by Low Cost Supermarket, Southern Main Road Cunupia, on Saturday at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena (CRISA), Chaguanas from 8.30 am.
Mohammed is expected to face competition from Robert Joseph, Hayden Haynes, Jerry Joseph and Shiraz Ali while in the Women’s Open Division, Arlen Joseph, Dayna Samaroo a former National B-Class champion, Karima Ali, a former national C-Class champion, Nyla Becessar and Renell Bharatsingh are the main contenders.
The men’s B category features R Beepath, Bachan Singh, Allan Dookie and Renesh Buchoon and in the women veterans’ over-35 age-group, defending champion Zadia Ali will be up against Arlene Joseph, Waheda Rajab, and Patricia Granderson.
The other catgeories to be contested includes Teams A and B Classes as well as Under-13, Under-15, Under-18, and Under-21 boys and girls, and Under-13 and Under-15 novices singles.
Some of the clubs expected to participate in the team events are Cunupia Crew, Chase Village, Enterprise Youths, Montrose United, Charlieville Central Warriors, and Couva Gardens.
