With confidentiality comes culpability, Jearlean John

The taste of the grapes on her lips must be sour indeed. Ms Jearlean John would have us today believe that the public will think any kinder of her if she can point to mismanagement in the HDC occurring before the People’s Partnership administration. If you knew then why tell us now? Silence is not golden.

Silence points to culpability. We have endured a government that treated the Treasury from 2010 to 2015, like the venue for a fiscal all-inclusive party.

They moved from dish to dish, serving themselves to as many goodies as was on display, and Ms John, one of the few people who could have said “enough,” said nothing? The most qualified and experienced of the HDC staff stood by and let Dr Roodal Moonilal play dolly house with people's hopes and dreams and she did and said nothing?

Ms John is intimating that there is a different meaning to the words 'self serving.' As long as her generous salary was paid on a monthly basis, the housing minister was allowed to change the financial goal posts and to allegedly give keys to the undeserving mixed up with the few deserving?

We all have bills to pay, we all need our jobs but there are some jobs that carry a greater responsibility in that they directly affect the quality of life of others. The hottest political word in T&T today is 'confidentiality.' But with confidentiality comes culpability. Ms John may no longer wish to hold on to confidentiality with regard to any previous administration but it does not absolve her from culpability in allegations of mismanagement by the People’s Partnership administration.

It is not only what one does, Ms John. It is the how and the why and the when you get around to doing the right thing.
